Summer School 23
Design for new ways of living

Jul, 17-21 | Jul, 24-28 | Aug, 16-18

Design thinking isn't merely a methodology; it's a mindset—a way of approaching problems that prioritizes human experience, environmental awareness, iterative learning, and multidisciplinary collaboration. By integrating empathy, creativity, and rationality, design thinking offers a holistic approach to problem-solving, one that moves beyond the conventional to create solutions that are not just viable but also innovative and sustainable.
The term 'New Ways of Living' suggests that our existing modes of living—how we work, interact, consume, and even relax—are ripe for reevaluation. This summer school will challenge you to dismantle traditional paradigms and reconstruct them through the lens of sustainability, social impact, and the well-being of all age groups. We're not just creating new products; we're rethinking entire ecosystems and lifestyle practices, from zero-waste communities and tech-integrated smart homes to age-friendly cities and beyond.
The workshop series are designed as an experiential learning journey, with a lineup of international guests, aimed to equip you with the foundational skills in inspiration, ideation, and implementation. Through interactive sessions, you'll learn how to tap into diverse sources of inspiration, generate innovative ideas, and direct them towards real-world solutions. After experimenting with your initial ideas, you'll return for a review process. This iterative practice is at the heart of design thinking, enabling you to refine concepts and reevaluate their feasibility.
By engaging deeply with both human and environmental needs, you will gain understanding of the complex challenges we face. You'll learn to navigate these challenges not as roadblocks but as opportunities for meaningful innovation. This summer, let's take the steps to craft a more sustainable, equitable, and imaginative world.
